Today, Farmers & Stockmens Bank is kicking off its 100th Anniversary Celebration of serving the personal and business banking needs of Clayton, New Mexico and the surrounding areas. Farmers & Stockmens Bank (F&S) officially opened its doors on the corner of First and Main on July 6, 1920 – only 33 years after the town of Clayton was established.
Over the past century, F&S Bank has weathered storms like the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl and the Great Recession. Through perseverance and the hard work of its dedicated employees, the bank has managed to not only survive, but to thrive. In addition to supporting the farmers and ranchers in and around Clayton, F&S has also helped dozens of small to mid-sized businesses open their doors to the community.
In 1971, 51 years after opening its main branch, F&S Bank opened its second branch location in the town of Des Moines. In 2009, the bank crossed state lines, opening a branch in Colorado Springs under the name Central Bank & Trust. To better serve clients located south of the main Clayton branch, F&S opened its Roy location in the Spring of 2015, and we are looking forward to the growth that 2020 will bring to our team.
We are forever grateful to the community that has supported us these past 100 years and invite everyone to celebrate this historic event with us throughout the year. We will have special events, offers and celebrations throughout 2020 as we commemorate our past achievements and look forward to the next 100 years!
